Pre-Contest Training

August 14, 2010

My final 10 weeks in my Mr. Olympia training prep was more geared to burning fat, maintaining muscle built during my short off season, bringing in more detail and separation and giving the judges an improved and better quality physique that my previous competition. After all this is the Olympia and you have to let it all hang out.

So this is the time where you have to pay more attention to your cardio training, abdominal training, posing, diet, sleep, supplementation, and detail training.

At no time should you ever sacrifice proper form but this is when all the extra squeezing, holding and stretching before, during and after your sets will pay off tenfold. By incorporating this into your training in helps bring out all that extra detail that you do not get from heavy training. It stimulates those extra fibers deep in your muscles that don’t come out from a normal repetition. Making sure you push off with your glutes while doing lunges brings out the little detail that doesn’t come out unless your focusing on it. By putting this technique in all your body part workouts will give you the best detail and separation you can possibly get.
